The name says it all, Sleepercar. This is a moody well traveled sound, a feel of the southern rock from the 70’s, with a little bit of deeper emotion. There is no doubt that this Texas rock band is well aware of where they are from, and ready for everyone to hear about them.

Not one song on this full length album will stick out and grabs your attention, but that seems like it is the point. When you listen, you will be taken to a dirty southern bar, with the sun beating in through the wooden windows, and a group playing music because they have to. This is music Sleepercar want to make, not mainstream, not poppy, but still mesmerizing in its own way.

West Texas is the type of album that you listen to all the way through, let it play in the background, or sit around with your headphones on and let the music take you away. Don’t worry about being jarred from song to song, because each track seems to weave its way into the next with ease. The only thing that would make this album better is if it were on vinyl.

Sleepercar - West Texas - Burn it from a Friend

This is a good album, good enough that one of your hip friends should have it…I’m sure they will burn you a copy. Saying that, I would defiantly see these guys live if they were playing at a small venue where you can sit down, enjoy some drinks, and some good music.

BUY HELP WANTED ON ITUNES

Today marks the release of Help Wanted, Eric Avery’s solo debut on Dangerbird Records. The reviews are rolling in…see what everyone is buzzing about!

Avery builds sonic textures and drawling vocals on top of his goth-rock-influenced bass lines, creating something akin to a modern-day Joy Division or Bauhaus.” – Bass Player Magazine

“Avery’s vision is his alone, and remains intact, dark, emboldened, and somehow comforting. This CD is a great soundtrack for breakups, writing, or a long drive to a funeral.” – Drum! Magazine

“Avery’s songs employ samples, electronica elements, brassy horns, and distortion- and feedback-riddled riffs, while his lyrics deal with everything from global politics to his childhood experiences.” – MTV.com

San Francisco, CA - Always ever-evolving and four-steps ahead of everyone else, electronic pioneers MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO (MBM) celebrates its 20th anniversary with the release of Autoimmune on April 8th on Metropolis Records. Heralded by All Music Guide as “an exhilarating aural exploration of the past, present, and future, rampaging across genres along the way,” its 10th album is a fascinating foray into the creative force of its mastermind Jack Dangers. At once embracing his past and thrusting himself into the future, he explores new sonic territory in an album that’s both familiar yet expansive… or as IGLOO Magazine explains, “it could be said that Autoimmune, while not a drastic departure from the Meat Beat Manifesto sound, is an album worth owning for that very reason.”

Those familiar with MBM and its futuristic explorations into the technology of rhythm and melody know that its sensory-overloaded live show is a multimedia extravaganza that’s as much a communal celebration as it is a cerebral mindf*ck. As Wired.com describes, “Meat Beat’s live show has generated a solid rep for being a surround-sound sensorium, and thumping Autoimmune tracks like ‘I Hold the Mic,’ ‘Spanish Vocoder’ and ‘Solid Waste’ are just part of the equation: Throw in Lynn Farmer’s incendiary live drumming and smartass viz from [Ben] Stokes and Consolidated vet Mark Pistel, and you’ve got a politically explosive multimedia program that’s nowhere near as boring as An Inconvenient Truth.”
